Granted, this was from Scott Zolak, a long-ago (really bad) Patriots' backup QB and current radio guy and their color analyst on radio. He's a somewhat extreme example. But if the shoe fits...
Patriots fans do largely have what I see as an inferiority complex. They crave others liking them and if not they will lash out. NOBODY loves a "who is the best fan base in the NFL?" discussion more than a Patriots fan.
I grew up with friends and family that were Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles, 49ers, Raiders, Broncos, Giants, Dolphins, etc. fans and it never mattered. When a Patriots fan hears you're NOT a Patriots fan it's like they almost can't believe it.
