...we've had OC coaches over the years that have had good games...but there's been a limit to their route combos. imo
I think the passing game and the ability to compensate and give the QB easier throws is what makes McVay soooo good.
I have not seen such great WR setups since Martz for our Rams. McVay brought back the 15yd dig routes that seem to be wide open - pitch & catch -
and it appears that few other OCs over the last 15yrs have done that consistently.

It's just a real joy to see how much coaching the Xs/Os matters for teams. and an even bigger joy to know that we have a HC/OC who gets that and uses his players ability and not force them into schemes that don't fit.
