It turned out well for us and I love the balls McVay showed right there but strategically speaking:
Was it the right call ?
Kicking the gimme FG would have put us up by 11 with 7 minutes left.
Would have forced Dallas to score a TD, a 2-point conversion plus a FG.
If you dont make it and get stopped it is a huge momentum swing and they can tie it with a TD and a 2 point conversion.
When the Rams went for it I really thought it was the wrong decision from a strategic view.
Personally I think risk -reward was not tilted in the way where you go for the TD on 4th down.
What were your thoughts during the game ?
Go Rams!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, it was a ballsy call, dodger. Very ballsy, actually.
But you know what? I’m not sure that either choice was a “wrong” one.
If the Rams score the TD, they get the 7 points, sure. AND a huge emotional lift. AND a huge emotional hit falls on the Cowboys.
If they fail, the Cowboys are faced with the need to drive 99 1/2 yards against a Very effective Ram D and then hope that the Rams don’t score again themselves.
If McVay takes the FG, lead is padded and the Cowboys are in dire straits.
Any way McVay slices it, the Cowboys were in deep doo doo. Lol.
