I looked at this a while back. I think they were around giving up 20 pts/game in the last five games. Granted.....they had games against the Lions, 49ers, and Cardinals in that stretch. However, there were also 15 garbage time points allowed vs the 49ers....plus a Goff INT vs the Eagles where the Eagles had the ball at the 6 yard line and scored a TD. If you back out those 22 points.....the average was 16 pts per game since Talib's return.
16 Pts per game over the season would rank #1 in the league. I'm not saying they are the #1 defense. But they should play far better than a #23 defense.
If Goff can limit (or eliminate) any gaffes (no easy turnovers), if this Rams defense plays like a #14 defense (or better), that will be good enough.
