With the niners taking all those timeouts with the game essentially over so that Kittle could get the record-got McVay upset -he wanted the game over quick so his players could get off the field. So with Kittle's record not yet complete he did not punt and instead tried a 4th and 4 hoping to get a first down and run out the clock not only to prevent the record being broken but to also to get the game over quickly. Didn't quite work out-but that's how I viewed it.
Maybe McVay was trying to end the game quicker, but he didn’t relay that to Wade.
He’s gonna need to take more ownership of the entire team. I just don’t see him dictating to Wade what he wants out of the defense.
Sorry max but do you really think Wade wants something LESS out of the defense than McVay does??? How do you know what McVay wants out of the defense?
Not only do they surely want the same thing that all head coaches and defensive coaches want, but I think Wade is a *little* more qualified than McVay to know what buttons to push to get it. I also think it very likely that McVay AND Wade are both comfortable w/McVay contributing his bit whenever he wants to.
Unlike some, I find zero reason to believe that because the Rams' D has generally disappointed, the fault must lie substantially w/Wade. W/or without Wade, I expect the Rams to focus on the D in the offseason and back stronger on that side of the ball next year.
