I think he played well overall. The miss to Reynolds was bad and all on him. That would have been a big play. But he played well overall. I think they rightfully played it pretty conservatively.
Ball security is the key. Don't fumble and throw INTs and the offense will take care of business vs anyone.
Yep. Well overall. As I said before, we've seen those big misses to a wide open Different Receiver Per Game all year. I don't think it's one a game but it's several. It;s just an odd little Goff thing. We used to not worry about it.
In terms of how he played this game---I looked at 3 different series, at the end of the first half into early in the 3rd quarter.
One in the 2nd quarter starting at 11:10, one in the 2nd quarter starting at 2:05, and one to start the 3rd quarter.
On those 3 series combined he is 13 of 20 (65%) for 188 yards and 2 TDs, including an 18 yarder to Cooks and a 29 yarder to Reynolds.
But I think some people are acting as if the miss to Reynolds counts for more than those 3 series do.
By the time those 3 series ended the Rams were up 38-10. SF had to stop them on those drives or the game was out of reach. They couldn't and as a result it was.
And the SF pass defense is just not that bad. In fact it would qualify as okay. They are 11th in passing yards allowed and 14th in net yards per attempt. They don't have a top pass rush but they're actually middle of the pack in terms of sack percentage so they're not BAD either.
I think this is the wrong game to spend worrying about Goff.
