No reason for the Rams to change very much from running the 2 TE sets much of the time as we did at Arizona, and running that ball straight at the Niners. It's not that the Niners are a bad run stopping team (they're above average); it's that with CJ and with Gurley, and with what I know our oline can do, we can run it. And in the playoffs, we need to be able to run the ball on O, and stop the run on D.
It will sharpen our oline and toughen us as a team to get physical and run the ball maybe 60% of the time. We have the horses. And it will sure give whatever team we play in the playoffs a lot to think about. It will also give Goff another opportunity to develop a rhythm and stay ahead of the chains.
I quite agree, Rock. Almost seems too obvious, doesn’t it?
And Goff can audible out of a running play if he sees the D with 8 in the box when he gets up to the line. A combo of Gurley, Cooks, Woods, Higbee, and Everett as potential receivers is still plenty potent.
Honestly, if our OL remains healthy, this 12 personnel set could be VERY hard to defend. And should give the Rams a TOP edge, perhaps a very big one.
If our D shows up, I’m liking our chances to get to the Promised Land.
