That is my point. When you run it, just to run it, the field shrinks, the space management gets messed up, defense gets to rush on 3rd downs on the passer, and it gets the offense tangled up in bad situations.
There is nothing wrong with running the ball, but do it to be successful versus that is just something the text book says to do and don't get predictable with the run, and don't get in bad down and distance because of insisting on running.
The Cowboys are a team of underachieving where this blue book has failed. Of course, there are the disasters with lesser talent like the Bills and the Rams with Fisher prior to McVay, and others. The Cowboys are just the best example where talent gets misused.
