I just feel his focus is in the wrong place too much of the time and isn't the leader I would want.

He still lacks maturity, too.

In the final drive of first half he was posing after a first down run, wasting valuable time as the clock ticked down. Granted, Rivera should have called the time out sooner, but Newton was completely into himself at that point and was completely ignorant of the situation at the time.
