I've always compared coaching to teaching. If 1 or 2 or 3 kids are failing, its a them thing. Them being the kid. if 1/2 the class is failing, its a you thing. You being the teacher.
That said, I just don't see these players returning:
Joyner - no way they tag or pay him like a tag worthy FS. Not after his disappearing act this season.
Suh- He's an UFA, and not worth the 14 the Rams paid him this year. He's gone unless he is down for a severe discount to stay.
Brockers - 0.75m in dead money, 10m in cap savings - he might have to restructure to stay...
Barron - 3.33m in dead, 6.33 in cap savings. I just don't see how you keep him around.
Fowler - He really depends on the money he wants. Right now I have no idea what he is worth.
Ebukam - he is going to be on the roster, but maybe as a backup?
I think Peters is safe unless he goes nuclear between now and next year. Talib is safe, Littleton is safe, Johnson is safe and obviously so is AD.
But you could have between 3 and 6 new starters on D next year. I think at a minimum you are looking at Joyner, Suh and Barron. Most likely Fowler and possibly Brockers.
So there is perhaps some question on how good the players are to begin with.
Brockers - rumored shoulder injury
Fowler - back up or spot player with Jags
Ebukam - kind of unknown going into the season?
Suh - just getting older?
Barron - coming off injury
Littleton - first year starter
And any idea why don't they sub for Donald and Suh who both seem to play most of the snaps?
