I agree. Very frustrating in a lot of ways, mainly that as outplayed as the Rams offense was by the Bears defense they were a missed FG away from being in position to win it late. But they were playing a top 8 team (and probably #1 defense) on the road in 20-something degree weather. It was not going to be an easy win. No way.
To me it all comes down to the Rams' OL having a
very rough game. They got pushed around in the running and passing games all night. We can break down Goff, play calling and not running Gurley more, etc. But no matter what was called they got manhandled (and occasionally just missed assignments) up front. When that happens you are not often going to play call your way out of it.
Defensively, let's all first agree that Trubisky sort of stinks at this stage. He's a good athlete but he is a zone-read, first-read QB. But still, the Bears have some playmakers and the Rams defense played well overall. Robey-Coleman especially. They are finally playing Peters in more zone vs press man which is great. Talib's presence helps though he of course is not 100% yet. I agree with those that say the ILBs are an issue. Littleton and Barron combined are probably about 440 lbs. They will have to get a true ILB in there next to Littleton next year and also move on from Suh.
