I watched Fowler quite a bit since he has arrived:
*When he gets off the ball hard, he is pretty effective; however, he hasn't had that many attempts at that for various reasons.
*When he gets around the shoulder of the OT, he is good to go....but, that has only happened a few times in 3 games....so, until he gets his upper body going, he won't be worth much.
* His upper body strength is much less than most DEs/Edge rushers (think 240 lb LBer strength) and thus much, much weaker than an OTs,
so once the OT gets his mitts on FOwler it is over....same with R Quinn these days. Fowler has great speed, plays hard, but he doesn't go at it like I would like...and so he is a speed guy with a few moves and good intensity.
All that said, I would like to sign him for a 1 year 6-8 million---have him give us 10 sacks in 2019 and then go from there. Any team paying more than that is stupid. He doesn't do a whole lot because he lacks the ability to really get around the OTs very often. He looks better at LDE than RDE in the rush.
HOWEVER, TEAMS are sliding protections to him,a nd helping out with RBs and TEs to chip sometimes....so, he is a huge upgrade over LongA and SamsonAll opines, mates
