would describe stuff that's happening in a way that my grandmother-if alive-could understand. 99/% of the fans never played and are not anywhere near as sophisticated as those on this board. Most of the color guys speak to the latter instead of the former. In that regard the best of all IMO was Cosell. He never played and never acted like he did. But he most certainly held your interest. He didn't know Xs and Os but he knew a good play from a bad one. Most of all he was entertaining-sometimes to a fault.
There used to be an announcer who did all the tv Packer games. He was known for his lack of works. It was like : "Star to Taylor-Touchdown." and that was it. I think he was my all time favorite. His greatest moment came when the Packers had the then fastest back in football -Travis Williams. One play was from the Packer 20 and he simply said: "Star to Williams. GONE !" Brilliant.
