Not running 3 times and punting won the game

November 20, 2018 03:04AM
Even though they failed and actually had an incomplete pass that stopped the clock and saved the Chiefs a timeout, I believe the Rams go in overtime and lose had the decision was made to just run the ball 3 times and punt.

By going for the win and failing, it kind of creating the mentality that we are playing to win versus to hang on. It It also put the defense in the mold that they had to stop the Chiefs versus playing some weak prevent defense and allowing them easy first downs and a game tying field goal.

We see these games lost every week where the team ahead runs the ball and accepts to punt and the opposing team going in and scoring to either win the game or to go into overtime. The approach has failed week after week for years and we continue to be subjected to announcers talking about clock management, blah blah blah even though I can give examples every week where that strategy fails.

Love McVay and his approach to the game. Love his energy. He makes the game so much fun.
