Bu tI thought he knocked it out before the ball flew off his hands, but perhaps I don't understand the $%&^$@ rule...

He did and I was hoping someone would elaborate last night because I had never seen that before. He didn't hit his arm while it was moving forward with the ball being released, he stuffed the ball while it was still solidly in his hand. He never "passed" the ball...but maybe the rule did not anticipate this (like I said, I had never seen that happen) and so, he was in the process of throwing with his moving forward when the ball was STUFFED!

That play is the same as any other passing attempt....an qb's arm goes forward any amount that is a passing attempt. The blocking of the pass at the qb's hand is ruled the same as a batted pass....thus incomplete.

To me that was a play that should not have needed replay.
