See, we have the best Defensive Tackle in the NFL and some say "in history" (although, I tend to think that's hyperbole). Next to him we have another extremely good Defensive Tackle.
What do the Chiefs got? Not the same caliber, that's for sure.
So, while it might be "nice" if Saffold and Whitworth, et. al. are allowed to do some holding, too, in the final analysis the major advantage there goes to the Chiefs. They just got one of our biggest weapons neutralized to a greater degree than their similar weapons will get neutralized. How many of those close games this year would be totally different if Donald and Suh got the calls they deserve? How much would a fair game go toward our chances tonight? I'd say, we win hands-down in a fairly called game. But I'm pretty sure we ain't gonna get it. So we'll have to rise above it like we have in the past.
Not to mention, it scr3ws the Rams organizationally, too. We paid
HUGE bucks to Donald with the expectation that under a fair implementation of the rules he's basically unstoppable. But since he's so unstoppable, the league has made an exception in his case when it comes to how holding is going to be called. And they've done it all year. Yes, he's leading the league in sacks, but he'd easily have 5-6 more if wasn't for the ridiculous amount of blatant holding going against him game in and game out. So we paid the huge bucks... and we get less than total dollar value for what we're paying. Because of a stupid "let 'em play" attitude that doesn't really go "both ways." Thanks, NFL.
