I think he's not the same guy cause he's an example of the fact that players are often not right the first year after knee surgery.
And it was a late injury too. In the playoffs. Which means there was even less time to get "right."
Is that the case with MB? Could be, he sure has had a lot of DNPs, both over the summer and during the season.
If that's the right hypothesis then it's possible he can rebound.
I remember in 2000 when fans were all down on Kevin Carter as if he were just loafing, when in fact he had had off-season back surgery and wasn't the same guy.
Guys don't always come back from their surgeries at full tilt 100%. Some need another year, some never are the same. Maybe one those 2 possibilities is the case with MB.
