Casserly has forgotten more about football than I will ever know. But as a talking head, he's very good a talking with confidence without substance. People seem to really like that for whatever reason. He sees things at face value without going any deeper into it.
I no longer really listen to what he has to say unless the situation is right.
Rams defensive problem, IMO, is the lack of an outside pass rush. (My biggest concern in PS, FWIW) Fowler may be the answer to that. I simply don't think they have found their identity yet. Talib going out may have been a bigger deal than some (me) initially thought. Peters has had his issues but he played pretty well against the Seahawks... not that they tested him.
Talking about RZ offense when the team is top 5 in scoring seems silly. It is an issue but pretty insignificant... unless you think the Rams should be scoring 45 points a game. Maybe they should but I don't think that's the main problem.
Discipline, lol... this is what I'm talking about with Casserly. One game and the Rams had some issues with a notoriously dirty team. Now Charlie has labeled them as lacking discipline. Whatever. This is the most disciplined team the Rams have had in a long time... I can't even remember a more disciplined Ram team.
Main problem is the defense is allowing way too many TD's. (Talk about superficial) Nonetheless if they could bend but don't break and give up field goals. The Rams would be damn hard to beat with field goals. Maybe they are trying too hard to be the elite defense they thought they were going to be.
