Terrible play calling last drive. Who calls a sideline go route on 3rd and 2? Terrible.
They were down 10 -- hoping to catch the Aints jumping a route. They were also battling the clock. Not a bad idea at that point. Could've picked a much better play on 4th down, though.

Goff also lost some patience on the last few series, but overall played well.
Yeah, there's no way he's going to run for a first down on 3rd and 10 in the red zone and he could've extended the play just by drifting out into the flat. As it was, Woods was open. He also need to be patient on the 3rd and 9 instead of quickly dumping it to Kupp. He needs to understand the situation a little better, but he's still learning and I'm sure he will.
This is the first that I've seen it stated like this on the board.
Goff is playing well but the subtle decision making in the plays you point out above is the difference between him and Brees IMO.
We talk a lot about their insufficiency in the RZ. It seems most have blamed McVay's play calling and maybe that's fair. But it seems a lot is on Goff too.
He's growing and I too think he'll get there but these subtleties are the difference between 3 and 7 on a drive or 45 points instead of 35.
