OK, OK I know this is a remedial question for a lot of you, but I'm a little slow, and with the recent signing of what many were saying was our greatest need, the question I have is: What exactly is an edge rusher?
Is it simply a DE that also drops into a linebacker role during certain situations/formations? I always thought Quinn was a DE - someone who played on the D-Line and rushed the passer from the outside. Now I hear that Ebukam, who I thought was a linebacker, is considered an edge rusher. (?) Where will Fowler play? Can anyone clarify? Thanks!
