It was Dickerson and the online, Ellard, the linebackers and secondary that ran that team. Was that the year we ran a 2-5 front 7? I think it was called the Eagle defense.
Yes Defensive Coordinator Fritz Shurmur (Pat's Uncle) was the defensive coordinator and Kevin Greene & Mike Wilcher off the edge were lights out. Gary Jeter came in on passing downs too...During a podcast Brock spoke about how archaic the offense was passing the football. The Rams did not have an Offensive Coordinator as Jimmy Ray had moved on and Robinson along with a young Norv Turner were calling the plays and it was totally predicated on the run with a few deep routes nothing intermediate.
Anyway it was one heck of a defense and too bad that Brock could not complete a slant pattern to Ron Brown because the Rams might have been in that game in Chicago if he had.
