If I am an opponent I choose to do what Denver did yesterday, absolutely. Denver had chances to make that game interesting several times and failed to capitalize because their QB play was piss poor and the Rams did a pretty good job against the run. Also, and I think Mcvay will learn, the opposing team needs to force Mcvay to commit in earnest to the run, and I'm not sure he can quite do that at this point.
And I will also say about the play calling, if they were so successful at taking away the intermediate routes yesterday, and they were, why did he wait until the last drive to call a WR screen? He set that play up perfectly by calling an average game all day, but they should have run a WR screen and run the ball to bring the defense up closer to the line.
