There was no shortage of doubters when it came to Jared Goff two years ago. He was shaky as a rookie behind a terrible offensive line and with no true playmakers at wide receiver, leading to a terrible first seven games in the NFL.
He rebounded in a big way last season, making his first Pro Bowl and leading the Rams to an 11-5 record – going from worst to first in scoring. Incredibly, he’s gotten even better this season despite playing with mostly the same receivers and a nearly identical offensive line.
Goff is your prototypical pocket passer, rarely scrambling outside to make plays with his legs. When you combine a player like that with an offensive line that hasn’t allowed a single sack this season, you get a lethal combination.
Since Week 9 of 2017, Goff has been close to perfect when throwing from a clean pocket, according to PFF. He has the highest grade of any quarterback, an adjusted completion rate of 83.6 percent and is averaging a whopping 9.5 yards per attempt.
