So. Only with the arrival of McVay have the Rams gone from over a decade as cellar dwellers to Superbowl contenders. But.....if one unit of the Rams doesn't operate as effectively as it should for a couple of games......out come the criticisms as though the Rams coaching staff and the players don't know it. Or that the Rams are some how failing that fan.
Yes, the D has been not very good these last two weeks. And for some reason they play less than their capability for 3 quarters and then step it up to shut down the opposing O when it has to in the 4th. And, according to Hoyle, they should be better than that.
I'd bet the farm they'll get this rectified and play much stronger and more consistently quite soon.
I'd also bet the farm that at some point, our O will have a less than stellar game or two......because that's the NFL.
The better a team is, the more determined the opposing team is to knock them (us) off the throne.
And it is near to impossible to operate at maximum efficiency for 16 straight games (as the number of 16-0 teams in history shows).
It was like that for me in High School sports. It's like that in college. And clearly its like that in the Pros.
What matters most is 5-0. And after next Sunday, likely 6-0.
