I think there is a significant drop off from top 3 WRS to the other guys.
I know Reynolds made a few catches, but I felt the offense kind of sneaked through that 2nd half with some creative calls from the coach and Gurley putting his foot on the gas. I don't think that when a team has a chance to prepare that this is the same team without those 2 WRs.
I know I am in the minority but my gut says this will be a problem if they are both out next week.
When they have all 3 WRs playing at the top of their game, this offense is like the GSOT and the defense doesn't know who how to defend. This will not be the case if they are both out.
Yeah, there is a big drop off after the top three, 81.
However...
Reynolds is not chopped liver and he will have a full week of practice and time for mental prep. Remember, he was thrown into the fire with no notice vs the Seahawks and he still fared well.
Another thing. Now’s the time for our TE’s to step up. Remember recently when some wondered why consider a 3 TE set since it would require taking top WR’s off the field? And I suggested it might be injury insurance? Well, now’s the time for Higbee and Everett to shine and I think that they will since McVay has all week to scheme them and work with the game plan.
To tell the truth there’s a bigger problem lurking on this team, and I never thought I’d ever need to say this, but Wade needs to get a handle on his D. They’re not playing that well together and it’s a helluva lot more than edge weakness now. There seems to be a lack of cohesiveness between the various parts. CB’s and S’s, LB’s and DL, plus the edge weakness. It’s a mess and it’s allowing points at an alarming rate.
