Only one player in the NFL has better MVP odds than Jared Goff

Through four weeks, there may not be a more surprisingly impressive player in the NFL than Jared Goff. He ranks third in completion percentage, second in yards and touchdowns and first in passer rating.

He’s throwing it deep, hitting his checkdowns and making smart decisions on the field, while also making highlight-reel throws like the one to Cooper Kupp last week. He looks every bit like a franchise quarterback and is showing why the Rams drafted him first overall two years ago.

As a result, he’s thrust himself into the MVP conversation this season and has a legitimate chance to win it. It’s obviously very early and there’s a long way to go, but this is the perfect storm for Goff. The Rams are undefeated and the favorites to win it all, he’s a big part of their winning ways, and he’s putting up eye-popping numbers, especially in primetime.

According to Bovada, only one player in the NFL has better MVP odds than Goff, and that’s Patrick Mahomes. That’s right, Vegas believes Goff has a better chance to win NFL MVP than Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and even his teammate, Todd Gurley.

Patrick Mahomes +400
Jared Goff +500
Drew Brees +600
Tom Brady +800
Aaron Rodgers +800
Todd Gurley +1400
Alvin Kamara +1600
Joe Flacco +2000
Philip Rivers +2500
Carson Wentz +2500
Again, there’s a long way to go and the Rams’ schedule is no cakewalk, but Goff has a good shot to take home the hardware. He’s currently on pace to throw for 5,624 yards and 44 touchdowns, which would be more than enough to win him MVP.

The Rams just have to keep on winning and he has to continue playing the way he has – albeit, at an expectedly lower level, given the torrid pace he likely can’t keep up.
