Frankly, I think that might be good news.
If the Rams think GZ might be back in a couple of weeks, it might not make sense to find another Kicker. And some of the better available vet Kickers are unlikely to sign on for a 1 or 2 week gig.
I disagree about Veteran Kickers not wanting to sign, why not? They are not doing anything currently. Dan Bailey was different, he wanted the right situation, there was only one Dan Bailey, the rest would jump at the chance and other teams are having issues. But if the Rams sign Cairo Santos for example, he's currently doing nothing but working out and none of knows how long Greg Zuerlein will be out or when he comes will he be totally healthy.
They only went with Ficken because he was in town and had been with us before, just like other kickers that are with teams during preseason. Very easily they could add someone else and I don't think they would turn down a paying gig IMHO.
