The Rams beat the Vikings, 38-31, to improve to 4-0.
QB Jared Goff completed 26-of-33 passes for 465 yards and five touchdowns, including a long of 70 yards for a rating of 158.3 passer rating (new personal best).
Goff’s five touchdowns is a career-high and tied a franchise record for the most passing touchdowns by a quarterback in a game. The feat has been accomplished nine other times, last by Kurt Warner (10/10/99).
Goff’s 465 yards tops his previous high by almost 100 yards and is the third-most in a single game in franchise history. The second-most is 509 yards by Vince Ferragamo, vs. Chicago (12/26/82) and the record-holder (Rams and NFL record) is Norm Van Brocklin with 554 yards, vs New York Yanks (9/28/51).
Goff’s 465 passing yards are the most in a game in the NFL this season.
Goff logged four receiving touchdowns in the first half, which ties a franchise record for most passing touchdowns in the first half. The other Rams’ QB to do it was Kurt Warner against the 49ers (10/10/99). Warner completed 14-of-16 passes for 232 yards. Goff is the second player to accomplish the feat this season. Cincinnati QB Andy Dalton threw four touchdowns in the first half vs. Baltimore (9/13/18).
Goff has eight career 300-plus passing yard games, which is the fourth-most in franchise history. Goff has registered 300-plus yards in three-of-four games this season. The Rams are 8-0 when Goff throws for over 300 yards.
RB Todd Gurley rushed 17 times for 83 yards and caught four passes for 73 yards. Gurley totaled 21 touches for 156 yards from scrimmage.
Gurley registered an 8-yard touchdown reception from Goff.
Going into today’s contest, Gurley led the league in scoring. He now has six touchdowns in four games (two receiving and four rushing). Gurley also has two, two-point conversions. In sum, Gurley has 40 points this season.
Gurley notched a 56-yard reception, his longest of the season.
WR Cooper Kupp hauled in a 70-yard touchdown reception from Goff. Marked the longest scoring play for the Rams this season and ninth-longest receiving touchdown in the NFL.
Kupp added a second receiving touchdown on a 19-yard pass from Goff. Marked Kupp’s first multi-touchdown game of this career.
Kupp had six catches for 129 yards in the first half, which is the third most receiving yards in the first half in the NFL this season. Raiders’ Jordy Nelson had four catches for 151 yds (9/23/18) & Falcons’ Calvin Ridley had five catches for 129 yards (9/23/18). The last Ram to have 100-plus receiving yards in the first half was RB Todd Gurley who had six catches for 133 yards against Titans (12/24/17).
Kupp finished the game with nine receptions for 162 yards.
WR Brandin Cooks notched his first touchdown as a Ram on a 47-yard pass from Goff. Cooks finished with seven passes for 116 yards.
WR Robert Woods tallied five catches for 101 yards and touchdown.
The last time the Rams had three players with 100-plus yards was against San Diego (10/1/2000) when Isaac Bruce (167), Marshall Faulk (114) and Az-Zahir Hakim (104).
DT Aaron Donald recorded his first sack of the season on Vikings QB Kirk Cousins for a loss of 10 yards. He added a second sack in the fourth quarter. Donald has 41 career sacks.
DT Ndamukong Suh registered a sack on Cousins as well. His second sack of the season and 53.5 for his career.
DL John Franklin-Myers made his first career sack.
According to press box statistics, S John Johnson led the team in tackles with 11 (six solo).
P Johnny Hekker punted two times for 71 yards, a 35.5-yard average and 35.5-yard net average.
