because of the era I began following the Rams one would think it would be the Baltimore Colts... and it did become them... but first came Green Bay.
When I started watching the Rams they were down... and stayed that way for nearly a decade. In 1966 they finally began to play competitively.. then came '67, perhaps my favorite all time Ram's season.
In the second to the last regular season game the Ram's knocked off the reigning champs... the unbeatable Lombardi led Green Bay Packers. Two weeks later they lost to them in the playoffs. That was it... the grudge match was set, revenge became my mantra.
Shortly thereafter the Colts became my arch enemy... division rival... and with Johnny U, and like GB, considered invincible.
Shortly thereafter... the Vikes... in '69... and it stayed that way throughout the 70's.. .and continues.......... to this day.
As much as the rest of you "THINK" you are fired up for tomorrow night's game... you aren't even close to me. Although Waterfield might be... but actually I do not recall him ever mentioning the Vikes as a foe that effected him the way it did many of the rest of us. Waterfield is perhaps the most even minded, fair, nonjudgemental football fan on the planet. We have NOTHING in common.
I'm kidding, of course, or actually, no, I'm not.
I'm a vindictive SOB.
