Kickers.. correct me if I'm wrong here....

But it seems to me Kickers peak earlier, and perhaps last longer, than any other player in the other positions.

Granted that in high school and college they use a plate.. HUGE difference, but I routinely see place kickers in HS kicking as well if not better than those in the Pros... both distance AND accuracy.

We had a kid here locally, this perhaps ten years ago... that when warming up I never saw miss 50 yards field goals... he didn't kick many that long in season but when he did he made them all... perhaps 4 or 5 for the season. When the coach offered to get him a 'sure' scholarship to a Div I college he turned it down... wanted to play soccer.

Not too long ago there was a bit of discussion in the media, and on this board, about the NFL perhaps going for some of those VERY young athletes, (not HS, but definitely fresh out of HS).

I don't know.... just something I find interesting.... do kickers mature quicker, noticeably quicker, than the other positions - JamesJM
