They have some depth and thankfully the Vikings don’t do all the 3, 4, 5 receiver stuff in the pattern
The problem is the Rams pass rush has taken a step back
Things are about to get tight
Has the pass rush taken a step back or has Wade changed his calls b/c of the talent he had on the DL and secondary? I think it's the latter. He's been rushing fewer men than last year.
This means if he needs to dial up the pressure he can but it will affect other things.
13.5 of the sacks last year were by Quinn and Barwin.
The rest of the edge rushers combined for 7.5 more.
Maybe they step up this year, but I wonder.
....
Maybe that's it; I'm not ruling that out.
However, in order to know, we have need to make an apples to apples comparison which is impossible to do right now.
I saw it posted on this board recently a stat showing that the percentage of time Wade is rushing 4 men instead of 5 or more is down this year to approx. 18% instead of last years approx. 40%. That's a dramatic difference.
Clearly, he's changed how he calls things based on the DL talent he has. If and when he dials the pressure back up to 40%, then we'll know if if this years edge rushers can get the sacks.
