They play a sport whose ill health effects often persist, and worsen, decades after they're done and some of you begrudge them HEALTH INSURANCE?

If the average career is 3.3 years, what are these guys...25.26 when they're done? They can't do anything else? If a guy goes to school, then law school, gets hired on with a firm and then 3 years later flames out, should the firm pay him a salary and health benefits after for the rest of his life?
Yes, they do face the physical and cognitive risks but they know that going in and they still choose to play. It's a choice to play football, not something that is forced on them.
Regarding the lack of pensions or health care after they're out of the league, they know about that too yet they still choose to play.
Like was mentioned somewhere else in this thread, this is a CBA issue and should be handled as such. Personally I don't care if they eventually get these benefits or not, I just don't buy the above arguments.
