spend a summer with these guys, and they've seen how you want to practice, mesh with the team, and you get a "feel" for the personality, and how they fit the group

not necessarily that there isn't a better player, but are willing to take a chance that they don't fit.
better athlete? sure
better player? sure
fit your team, and will make the affordable play? maybe, maybe not.
