The conversation was not about offense or defense.
The conversation was about calling anyone a generational player.
And I deny that Mack is a "generational" player. It is a completely subjective label and if there's more than one "generational" player around, then it defeats the meaning of a generational player.
Now if one wants to talk about who is the best at any given position at any given time, that is fine. Might Mack be the best OLB right now? I don't know, but he'd certainly be in the running.
But that does NOT make him a player that only comes along every generation.
If there is any generational player playing right now, it might be Brady. But I'm not sure I'm even ready to give him that label.
