How do you feel about McVay's opinion then? If he likes Mannion, perhaps the fans aren't seeing clearly on the issue?
Since he was in college I haven't liked Mannion's seemingly glacial delivery but McVay's had 2 full seasons to look at him and if he wanted, to move on from him but he's still here. That carries weight for me. If it was Jeff Fisher keeping him around it would be a totally different conversation. Hell, I think so little of Fisher that I value MY opinion about QB's more than his. But not McVay. Dude is Martz level when it comes to QB's from what I've seen.
If Mannion is good enough for McVay then I'm willing to accept that there's something more to Mannion than what's showing up on the stat line.
Aside from deferring to McVay though, Mannion hasn't looked terrible to me. He's the definition of serviceable backup IMO. Maybe if he got to play with the starters in the real offense with first team reps and some continuity, he could be a starter? I can't make that call without ever seeing him get a real chance.
