I have a lot of respect for someone who puts in that kind of effort.
Jake gets overly excited about a lot of players. But he did watch Brian Allen on the field and hated the pick.

That's fair. Still, there are many journalists and bloggers and analysts who don't put the effort in that Jake does. Too many of them are telling jokes and personal stories and not focusing on the team.
Obviously, Jake is a young guy who is very green. I think its better to give encouragement to someone who takes the time to go and see these players and talk to them.
He has the respect of serious NFL reporters because of his work ethic. Everyone should listen to his interview with Irv Pankey where Pankey started off rather cool and ended up wanting a copy of the interview for his wife.
