Yeah, I don't think it's quite fair when Goff's success is chalked up as "well, he's in a very QB-friendly offense with McVay." Well, yeah, that's sort of the point. Your offense should be QB-friendly or it's not going to work very well. So was Bill Walsh's and Ernie Zampese's and Mike Martz's... Their QBs weren't drawing up plays in the dirt.
Of course McVay and LaFleuer helped set up Goff for success a year ago. They focused on his strengths and didn't pile too much on him at once. And the scheme itself is very innovative. But the kid should get credit for his talent and the work he put into the 2017 and now 2018 offseasons. He wants to be great.
