was a brilliant move.
By playing out his contract and not showing up again, Donald forces the Rams to franchise him because they won't get sufficient value in compensation if they lose him as a restricted free agent. So showing up by 8/7 was really moot.
If the Rams sign Donald now, he gets his money. If not, he is playing for $6+ million anyway...whether he reported on time or the day before game 1.
