I’m hoping time will tell. He was so impressive in college. His ability to change direction was crazy. He seems to love the game but I do wonder if 2015 was his peak. He got the ball a bit and was effective. So we will just have to wait and see if there is anything we can deduce after this season.
He seems like a good person so I hope he does well... not losing sleep over it either way. Lol
I think it's simple.
The more balanced in how they used him the better.
2015 = 52 receptions, 52 rushes, 9 TDs, 907 combined offensive yards
2016 = 58 receptions, 28 rushes, 4 TDs, 668 combined offensive yards.
2017 = 13 receptions, 59 rushes, 1 TD, 317 combined offensive yards.
In 2017 they just did not use him, partly for the reasons you list, and partly because as he said his wrist was still recovering and he did not have the practice time.
IF he still has enough to be like 2015 it is going to be because they use him in that hybrid role. And he has addressed that. In Dallas he goes to receiver meetings but they also intend to use him a lot as a runner, presumably on normal running plays plus gadget plays, just like 2015.
