QBs are putting significant pressure on minimizing non QB salaries...

I guess that could be responded to by saying "Duh!"

But, here are some stats to show why certain positions feel the pinch like safety.

The salary cap increased from 2017 to 2018 by $10,200,000.
2018 - $177,200,000
2017 - $167,000,000

The average top 10 QB salary increased $3,960,216.
2018 - $25,483,676
2017 - $21,523,460

As a percentage, QBs (1 player) are eating up almost 40% of the cap increase.

I know there are some holes in this analysis but it drives home the point that somebody isn't going to get much more money and yes, maybe less money in their next contract. This significant fact, has not been in place in previous seasons which is why we haven't seen a phenominon like a dropping price for players, in this case safeties.

Unless the rate of growth subsides, there will be further pressure to freeze or drop other player salaries to pay for QBs and other upper echelon players. RBs are about to change thanks to Todd Gurley.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
