Here is a link to info about the concept of IPTV.

I will say this. Approx 3-4 years ago I switched from Verizon home phone service to VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) with terrific results.
In layman’s terms VoIP uses your wi-fi internet connection rather than phone lines for voice communications. There are many providers and I recommend researching those in your area, if interested. Pay close attention to user reviews. I have friends in both Missouri and Florida that have gone to VoIP and are very happy. The guy in Missouri even uses it now for his business!
I was paying Verizon at least $45 per month for my home phone service, previously. My VoIP provider costs $135 per year paid in advance, and that includes the necessary modem. Do the math.
Incidentally, I have all the features I enjoyed with Verizon. Caller ID, voice mail, whole house intercom, etc.
I love it.
As to this IPTV, I’m new to the game. But I certainly have an open mind after my positive VoIP experience of 3-4 years.
I’m into a sweet deal with DirectTV right now that runs for another year so I’m not gonna change anything until next summer. But I’m very interested in this new possibility of using high speed internet, to say the least.
If anybody on the board has any first hand use info, I would really appreciate your sharing it.
