The Professor
We have or will have a lot of future money tied up in QB, RB (where most teams do not), WR, D line, and in the dbacks. Somewhere has to give. It is clearly LBs on the defense but it looks like the oline will also get short shrift. Next year we are scheduled to have an older LT on his last contract year and an older C on his last contract year. We drafted replacements this year for them but have to hope they will be ready in a year (or two). Our other three linemen are all FAs. With top dollar spent elsewhere, they can afford to bring one back. So there will be turnover on the oline with probably weaker pieces coming in.
If you don't have money to spend on a position, you may need to invest heavily in the draft. Seattle didn't do that.
And it seems the Rams already see the writing on the wall and have started to invest in the position beginning with this years draft. I expect that to continue this next year.
And I would not assume that weaker pieces will be coming in. Neither Hav or Brown are above average players.
