I believe 100% that Pleasant will be a DC. I have no idea how many years Phillips wants to coach but it would sure be great to have Pleasant be his successor down the line. But if he manages the DB group well in 2018 I would not be surprised at all to see a team snatch him up as their DC for 2019.
I'd love to see Pleasant coaching the Rams D for a long time.
Joe Barry, we've been told, runs the halftime consultations that lead to halftime adjustments. That's a small thing in itself and just means that Wade delegates. But I put that together with the fact that Barry is a friend of McV;s and was with him in Washington. So Wade didn't hire JB, McV did. He is also the assistant head coach.
JB has experience as a coordinator (Detroit 2007-8). They were 32nd both years. Also in Washington 2015-16 (28th both years). In Washington he ran a 4/3 but then he had a stint from 2011-2014 in San Diego when he was LB coach for a 3/4. Washington actually switched to a 3/4 last year after Barry left.
Anyway I worry that JB is the heir apparent to Wade. '
I think Pleasant is much younger than Barry and was the DB coach in Washington under Barry,
