For this year, should the Rams have a top 3-4 defense, I agree that's a big factor that could take them a long way. And for several reasons I actually doubt the Rams put up as many points as they did in 2017. Maybe I'm wrong. After 1999 I didn't think the Rams offense could be better and in 2000 it was.
But longer term I absolutely buy into 'As Goff goes so go the Rams.' Whether it's New England, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, etc. those teams have sustained winning and contending annually because they had top-5 QBs while the rest of their rosters had multiple holes and issues.
It's why a future contract with Goff doesn't concern me. It's great that they have him on a rookie deal that allows for guys like Suh and Talib to be here. But when Goff earns a massive contract extension it, well, will be because he earned it.
