Everyone loves a Rags to Riches story and there is always a few UDRFA's that have a shot, but most of the time they have a solid collegiate career like Rodney McLeod and Cody Davis for example. Perez is coming from a division II school and has two bonafide collegians in front of him. Again everyone loves a rags to riches story, but it happens once or twice in a lifetime and all of us witnessed Kurt Warner.
I've never seen him play, so who knows? But if the write-ups of his arm talent are correct, he lacks Warner's arm strength by a considerable amount. Apparently, he has the accuracy part down, which was a major part of KW's game. But he doesn't have his arm. Against NFL competition, a pass that could get there in college oftentimes won't. It goes without saying that pretty much everyone on D is faster, quicker, taller and bigger than he's used to, so that "window" closes much, much faster.
Then again, he could get stronger with his throws and rise to the competition. I wish him all the best.
