SUMMARY: A two-star tight end recruit out of high school, Dalton Keene set the Jacksonville school records for career catches (160) and touchdown catches (32) and was a four-year starter in basketball. He committed to Illinois State as a tight end before the coaches convinced him to move over to defense. Keene became a full-time starter as a sophomore and posted career-bests 13.0 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks as a senior – also blocked three kicks in his career on special teams. He has a power-packed frame with the nasty disposition to match, using his relentless nature to work through the shoulder of blockers. While he stays balanced in his movements, Keene also shows a degree of stiffness when attempting to make tight turns into the pocket. He struggles to control the point of attack vs. the run and has a tweener skill-set. Overall, Keene’s pass rush is based more on effort than athletic skill, playing with the necessary energy, but not the desired dynamic traits.
