I tend not to fixate on the picks but the mechanics of the draft.
--If the Browns were going to take Mayfield anyway, they should have done it at #4 and taken Barkley at #1. The only team they had to actually worry about was the Jets and it would have been worth the risk.
--Bruce Allen shows how much he sucks every year. I know they liked Payne but were probably salivating that Vea was still on the board until Tampa Bay snaged him right before their pick. With Edmunds and James still on the board the Redskins should have a) drafted one of them or b) traded down a but and still selected Payne. Allen was unprepared for what happened--which he pretty much always is.
--New Orleans gave up next year's #1 to draft a really raw small school pass rusher. I understand going all in for the end of Drew Brees, but will this guys be ready to be what they hope he can be before Brees calls is a day?
--The Packers drop down four picks and give up a 3rd round pick and get the Saints 2019 #1?? And they srtill get the guy they wanted at 14. Great move by the first year GM.
