The Rams paid him a $2M bonus when the new year started in March. The time to cut/trade him was then, not now, so that the Rams could save the 2mil. Of course the author doesn't follow the Rams closely and is oblivious to this fact. If they DO cut or trade Barron, it's time to serious question the Rams FO.
Personally I think Wade preferred Barron over Tree due to Barron's better coverage ability and Tree playing while hurt and hurting the team (e.g the Philly game). Me Not We example for one of your captains.
