Whitworth and Watkins both worth the investment

Simply put:

To learn how to win, you have to win.

The Whitworth signing and Watkins trade were both well worth it. Some say NOT, only if you win the superbowl, that you have to have a longer term vision. Longer term for what? Repeating the previous 10 years where you say every year, too much salary, too much to give up and do nothing!

After the Robinson debacle at left tackle and 10 years of bad WR play, something needed to be done and to the Rams credit, aggressive action was taken. Goff had no chance of success with NO wrs, a bad left tackle, and the worst offensive coach in the NFL as the head coach. All 3 problems, check mark, and he goes from a bad QB to a good one.

The net result was a very good season and the most exciting team in the NFL. Even with Watkins gone and question marks how long Whitworth can be effective, the culture of the Rams went from bad to great. The team has mojo and energy and confidence. These 2 players allowed Goff to develop and become a confident QB.

And I know Watkins underachieved and left for free agency and the Rams at best get a 3rd rounder back after spending a 2nd rounder, but to break through and win and to give Goff a chance to be successful.

THAT WAS WELL WORTH THE SHORT TERM INVESTMENT.

Which in effect: = Long Term dividends.
