The Los Angeles Rams are shifting their focus to the mid-to-late rounds of the NFL Draft after dealing away the 23rd overall selection for Brandin Cooks. As a result, their targets have likely gone from Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry to Micah Kiser and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo.
Among the mid-round picks the Rams are looking at is Utah outside linebacker Kylie Fitts, who’s visiting the team on Tuesday.
Fitts is an uber-athletic edge rusher who perfectly fits the mold of what the Rams look for in outside linebackers. He’s not a refined pass rusher, but with Wade Phillips heading the defense, there’s a good chance Fitts will develop relatively quickly.
At the combine, he ran a 4.69 40-yard dash with 31 reps on the bench press, which are good numbers at 6-foot-4, 263 pounds. Unfortunately, he’s very injury prone, playing just 22 games in four seasons. His best season came in 2015 when he recorded seven sacks in 12 games.
As a potential Day 2 or 3 selection, he’d provide the Rams with good value at a position of need, assuming he can stay healthy.
